John Calvert & Co, Peacock Brewery, 26 Whitecross Street, Saint Giles without Cripplegate, London EC2
Between Whitecross Street and Redcross Street, with passages into both streets. Recorded from 1550. In 1786 John Calvert of the Peacock Brewery, Whitecross Street, was a partner in Combe Delafield. In 1787 they installed a Boulton & Watt steam engine. In 1808 John & Peter Calvert, but in 1810 merged with the Hour Glass and closed.
The site was afterwards occupied by the Debtors' Prison. Now Barbican Estate.
