Star Brewery Co. Ltd, Star Road, Eastbourne, Old Town, East Sussex.

The Golden Hop Brewery was founded in 1777 and operated by George Gates until October 1886 when the Star Brewery Company was formed to acquire the business of William Alexander Cardwell, a partner in Hurst and Co.

Acquired by Courage, Barclay & Simonds Ltd. 1965 with 43 tied houses. Brewing ceased 1967 and the main brewhouse (built 1876) was demolished in 1971.
