James Richard Ramsden bought the brewery in 1875. In 1926, they acquired Arthur B Everett (Sheriff Hutton) with two pubs.

Ceased brewing in 1947 and seven houses and an off-licence offered for auction – one acquired by Johnson & Bambridge, bottlers of York and others subsequently leased to them. Beer was supplied by John Smith's Tadcaster Brewery Co. Ltd.
