Truman Hanbury Buxton & Co Ltd - London & Burton-upon-Trent Hoxton, Pitfield Street / Coronet Street Hop Pole A three-storey brick corner building with dark green faience to the ground floor. The fascia has green lettering on cream tiles: (1) On Coronet Street - 'TRUMAN'S ALES'; (2) On Pitfield Street - 'TRUMAN'S ALES & STOUT'. Above the second-floor windows, the cornice on the Pitfield Street elevation has 'TRUMAN HANBURY BUXTON & CO LTD' - white raised lettering on brick coloured tiles. Truman Hanbury Buxton & Co Ltd - London & Burton-upon-Trent Hoxton, 55 Orsman Road Stags Head An elegant Truman's corner pub by A E Sewell, 1930s. Cream fascia with 'LONDON ... TRUMANS ... BURTON' and 'BURTON BITTER ... TRUMANS ... LONDON STOUT'. On the corner splay, a tiled panel with the pub name and a stag's head, and above this a Truman eagle in a roundel. The interior features panelling with lettering in gold advertising Truman's range of beers; plus TRUMAN'S lettering in the fixed mirror over a fireplace. Charrington & Co Ltd - Anchor Brewery, Mile End, London Islington, 148 Caledonian Road Thornhill Arms A three-storey corner building with a fine exterior. The ground floor frontage has marvellous dark brown faience tiles, and a curved cream fascia with dark-brown lettering: 'ALES - CHARRINGTONS - & STOUT - THORNHILL ARMS ALES - CHARRINGTONS - & STOUT'. Above the second-floor windows is a similar fascia on both frontages with the pub name, and four 'anchor' illustrations. There is also a modern Charrington projecting box sign with a 'Toby' on a plate, and ''The Sign of Good Food'. TN 2005; WRB photo 2006 Picture

Good wedge-shaped exterior in brick and stone. On the corner splay is a stone panel with the pub name and the Truman eagle in a roundel. On the parapets right and left is lettering: 'TRUMAN'. Above the first-floor windows on the Shellgrove Road elevation, the chimneys feature stone panels incorporating the Truman eagle trademark. The fascia has brown lettering on mushroom-coloured tiles: 'ALES ... CHARRINGTON'S ... STOUT ... THE LANSDOWNE ... ALES ... CHARRING ... ' - unfortunately the lettering on the rear part of the return fascia has been removed and replaced by modern plain tiles. The return fascia also features a tiled Charrington 'Flying Tankard'. Charrington & Co Ltd - Anchor Brewery, Mile End, London Camden Town, 63 Royal College Street Prince Albert Fabulous tiled exterior in shades of green, with contemporary leaded windows, around three elevations. The tiled fascia has dark green lettering on a cream background: 'OFF LICENSE (sic) ... "PRINCE ALBERT" ... PALE ... CHARRINGTONS ... ALES ... "PRINCE ALBERT" ... PALE ... CHARRINGTONS ... ALES'. At the rear is a large tiled panel within one of the ground floor window openings with lettering 'CHARRINGTON'S ALES & STOUT' surrounding an anchor emblem. Truman Hanbury Buxton & Co Ltd - London & Burton-upon-Trent Euston, 58-60 Hampstead Road Lord Palmerston (former) High level fascia lettering with 'TRUMAN, HANBURY, BUXTON. & CO.' on both sides. Similar lettering with the former pub name also survives below. This pub closed pre-1984 and is now in use as a theatre. In 2008, the Truman's signage was covered by modern boards. West's Brewery Co Ltd - Three Crowns Brewery, Bethnal Green, E2 Belsize Park, 97 Haverstock Hill Sir Richard Steele At first-floor level on the corner splay, a panel sign in red and black with gold lettering: 'The SIR RICHARD STEELE ... Reid's Brewery Co Ltd - Griffin Brewery, Clerkenwell EC1 Kentish Town, 227 Kentish Town Road Jolly Anglers (former) This Victorian pub is closed and in restaurant use. Around the ground floor are ten ceramic plaques with 'RB'. It's thought that this might be Reid's Brewery. Confirmation of brewery required. SRH photo 2007 Picture

Truman Hanbury Buxton & Co Ltd - London & Burton-upon-Trent St Johns Wood, 2 Gateforth Street Duke of York (former) This pub was rebuilt to the design of A E Sewell in 1932, and was converted to restaurant use in 2007. It retains a tiled panel on the corner splay with a large Truman's eagle motif and the pub name in raised lettering; the date 1932 is in the keystone above. KR photo 2006; SRH 2008 Picture

At least three roundels at high level, and one above a former entrance on the right, featuring the Truman eagle painted gold. The free-standing off-licence building on the left (now an office) has a similar roundel at first-floor level. KR 2006 .
