Fancy a “Good Old Collectors Beano”? Then read on. There will be a fifth Joint Society Meeting starting at 12:00 hrs on Saturday the 17th June at the Bulls Head, Cambridge Street, St Neots, Cambs. It is hoped to have the following societies in attendance: the British Beermat Collectors Society, the British Brewery Playing Card Society, the Association of Breweriana Collectibles, the Labologists Society and the Brewery History Society
This event was very successful last year with over ninety people coming through the doors. In addition to the above clubs and societies, individuals are invited and encouraged to bring along items of breweriana to trade and sell. As pub tables are likely to be much in demand it would be advisable to bring along your trusty old pasting table in case the pub facilities run out.
A large area of the pub’s garden is now under cover so who cares what the weathers like. Also the pub landlady and landlord are keen football fans so if there’s any matches on the box you won’t miss them.
If you have any quality items to dispose of, Mike Peterson of the Association of Bottle Beer Collectors, will be organising an auction. Being an experienced CAMRA auctioneer he is also available for valuations. A sellers commission of 10% will be charged, which will go towards a charity selected by Cecile, the pub landlady.
The venue, i.e. the Bull’s Head, is on the right going east out of the town centre towards Cambridge and is sited about 200 metres before reaching the railway bridge. If approaching from the west, i.e. Cambridge direction, reverse these directions. There is a regular rail service to St Neots from Kings Cross and Peterborough. The pub is only ten minutes walk from the station. The A1 is also very close and the venue can be reached by exiting at the B1041 (coming from the North) or the A428 (coming from the South). For those who might like to stay overnight bed and breakfast plus camping facilities are offered by some of the towns pubs and there is a Premier Lodge Hotel close by on the A1.
This is a good chance to wallow in bottles, beermats, playing cards, labels, badges, etc and meet up with like-minded collectors from other societies, so please do try and come along and don't forget to bring as much breweriana as you can manage. This event will also be publicised in the local press so who knows what will turn up? I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy yourselves.
