(HOLE - INT - WALL) ...OLDEST TAVERN IN BOWNESS ... FREQUENTED BY CHARLES DICKENS ... HARTLEY'S FINEST DRAUGHT ALE AS BREWED SINCE 1780 STRAIGHT FROM THE WOOD', a sign which presumably pre-dates the closure of Hartley's Brewery in 1991. The sign board also incorporates a Hartley's 'barrel-end' sign with BREWED ... HARTLEY'S ... TRADITIONALLY'. Hartley's letter signs on the wall have been replaced with Robinson's lettering.
